The Technology Obsessed Warrior: Givenchy Spring/Summer 2014

I have to be honest, I haven't been as on top of men's fashion shows. It's quite unfortunately actually, because I've viewed some of the collections and to have not seen them on the catwalk is devastating. But fortunately for us, we have technology!

So, if you may have noticed, I love Givenchy. Like, utterly love everything about the design house. It's classic, but so eclectic. And wearable. One day, and hopefully soon, I want to style a shoot that is strictly Givenchy...yes. Lol. Anyway, back to the fashion show. I loved the collection. Riccardo does a great job at integrating an idea into wearable, artistic, fashion which is something that I feel a lot of designers attempt but don't quite accomplish. For his Spring/Summer 2014 collection, we are given tribal, techie, fantasy. The colors are very vivid and lay on a simple backdrop. And we have some major color blocking. We also see the resurgence of women capturing the oversized fashion. In this case, with the oversized, structured blazer. Love! From the coats and sweaters, to the leggings and collared shirts, everything is perfect! So give me feedback. What do you think of the collection? Do you think it's too much or just enough? Let's Talk Spring Trends

Hello my fashionable followers. I hope you're all well. So, let me tell you about my morning. When I actually woke up, meaning I opened my eyes and got out of the bed, I was greeted with a beautiful stream of pale yellow sunlight that plastered my newly bought green skinny jeans. It was at that moment that I thought, "Omg! It's Spring!" Now, I know it's a day or two into the new season, but it didn't hit me until I saw those jeans. And since my photoshoot was today (which went very well, may I add) I thought it would be nice to talk about some of the trends that we'll be seeing this spring.

First off, stripes. They dominated the runways. From Moschino to Versace to Ralph Lauren to Acne. They were bold, not so bold, large, small, colorful, and not so colorful. But the fact remains. They were there. So for all of my trending topics (HA!) definitely try to incorporate some pieces that can carry you through spring. I suggest doing a colorful piece, maybe pants, and a more neutral piece (say, black and white) in a shirt. That way you have ways of maximizing what's in your wardrobe while having a very staple trending piece that can be dressed up or down. Okay? Cool.

Second, let's take a trip to the Emerald City. Yes, I did a Wizard of Oz reference. Love that movie, btw. Anyway, this is for my color lovers! Emerald will definitely be in this Spring and you should know that it is a very easy color to incorporate into your wardrobe. Now, if you didn't know already, I'm a college student so my budget is very limited. Because of this, I look for sales. With that being said, don't feel like you have to spend a ton of money on trying to achieve the "right shade of Emerald" because you don't. Try playing with the shade of green that works best with your skin tone and wardrobe. We saw a wide range of green used, from Michael Kors, Vera Wang, and Reem Acne. So know, that there is not a right shade of green. Just make it your own and go with it...like me and my green skinny jeans.

And lastly, for the guys more so than the girls, go loud or go home! But in the nicest way possible of course. Lol. Bold, obscure patterned shirts are so in for men this Spring. Whether you have little multi-colored music notes dancing across your shirt, or tons of zig-zags going any way imaginable, or simple little flowers that detail every inch, own the look. Be as crazy as you want. Be as creative as you want. Now, if you're being crazy shirt, pants, and shoes wise, then you might be doing a little too much. But hey, don't let me rain on your parade. If you like it and you're confident, then by all means, be as crazy and creative as you can. I'm definitely your biggest supporter. Haha

My life and such happenings

9:53pm.

It's a lovely evening. My friend and I sit with our backs turned to the window, in the Starbucks down the road from school. It's charming, actually. The people flow back and forth. My mind wanders and wanders...and wanders some more. And...I'm wandering...

Okay, now back to reality. So I'm new this whole coffee shop blogging. I never actually know what to talk about. And my life is pretty not eventful so I'm basically stuck with tells from school that deal with nothing that's exciting. However, that is not the case this time. I am very fortunate to be working with a street style blogger tomorrow. It was funny how we met. I was introduced to his blog about two weeks ago, over coffee and the very next day, I saw him. I went up to him. I told him I really liked his work. And then he asked me to be featured on his blog. And no, I didn't pester him. Lol. Literally, I only wanted to compliment his blog and photography skills. His photos are really awesome and it's not an everyday thing for me to meet someone who is interested in the same things that I am. Moving on, I also have the pleasure of assisting a wardrobe stylist with a fashion show geared towards women empowerment....this should be exciting. I think that this is a great cause regardless though. One of my missions in life is to be an inspirational figure for everyone, so I hope that this gives me that opportunity.

So that's about it for my life right now. I know I keep saying I'll do better, but I'm not motivated at the moment. It's hard to find inspiration in a place that lacks the creativity you need to push forward. But I'm going to try and find something to keep me going. I hope you guys are doing well! Things? Happening? Excited? Very?

Hi everyone! Hope you all are well. So I thought for today, I would update you guys on what has been going on my life as of late. Recently (that being about two weeks ago), I ran into a street style blogger by the name of William (Will) Crooks. I was actually introduced to his blog over coffee one night. Of course, coffee has to always be involved. Anyway, as I was looking over his blog, I noticed that there was an aesthetic that I hadn't been aware of until it was captured in a photo. It's interesting to think that much of our time is spent bypassing the beauty that is around us, and begin to grow almost numb to anything that is, well, beautiful. And it is because of that reason, that capturing of the moment, that I love photography. It's a great way of preserving the essence or a story or simple memory associated with that particular moment. And more me, photography and fashion go hand-in-hand. Fashion tells a story through an aesthetic, which photography captures that story. It's that magical feeling you get when you're flipping through the pages of a magazine and you are captured by a photo, shot on the rooftop of an Italian gala, with lights and people. Captured in the center is this person, not modeling, necessarily, but captured in the natural. And you begin to see the small details that add to them; that add to the overall photo. It's that artistry that entices me. Alas, I have been blessed with the opportunity be photographed for Will's blog. And I'm hoping that I will be able to add to the aesthetic, through the photographs and through my own styling and photography. So that's basically all I wanted to say. Here I am...for the most part.

Bonjour my friends. Today, I thought I would do something a little different. For awhile now, I've been primarily posting about fashion week (from NY, to London, to Paris) but as an aspiring blogger, I feel it's important for you guys to know me. To know who I am. To know how I think. Or, at least as much as you can from your over the internet. And so...for today's topic, I thought I would talk about, well...me. Or, at least a little bit of me. Starting with my favorite of all things aside from fashion, coffee!

Skinny caramel lattes, white chocolate mochas, hazelnut macchiatos, and I could go on but no. That's boring. Lol. But hopefully you get the point. I love coffee. Not black coffee, no. But everything else. Haha. I really feel like at times, I'm an addict which...honestly, isn't too farfetched at this point. You know when your in bed at night, after you've taken a nice, long, hot shower and you've snuggled underneath your blankets and then, out of nowhere, you have to go to the bathroom? That "omg, I don't want to get up but I need to go to the bathroom" feeling. Yeah, that's pretty much what I get from coffee. "Hello. My name is Victor. And I'm a coffee addict."

Music. Music. Did I mention music? Who doesn't like music? I'm sure we all have a favorite song or two that we, for the most part, have playing in our head at all hours. Or is that just me? Hmmm...well, it works for me. It's actually really funny to think about because as a college student, I'm constantly listening to music to maintain so level of sanity. Lol. But I've found myself forgetting to take out my headphones in class, I love it so much. Just the place that a song can put your mentally and emotional is a feeling that's unmatched. It's like a freedom that almost unexplainable but makes so much sense. Yes, yes I am a philosopher.

Lastly, I love a sitting at home, with a good book, in bed (in the city would be an awesome addition). Literally, my life changed when the Harry Potter series came out. I was in 5th grade when I read Chamber of Secrets...first. Hey, I didn't know there was an order. I eventually figured that out when I realized that half of the things that were being reference weren't just randomly placed thoughts but came from a book that I hadn't read. Anyway, I love the feeling of getting lost in pages. And for all my book lovers and no so lovers of books but occasional readers, I know you've felt that sense of belonging to the story. It's like with every turn of the page, you become more and more apart of the story. Yeah, you know what I mean.

So there I am. Well, a small piece of me. The rest of Victor is very weird and thinks too much and obsessed over pictures of tigers and cute puppies. Haha. But I really hoped you learned a little bit more about me, aside from the fashion side of me. I think that it's important to know people for their everyday pleasures rather than the things that they're "known" for. Hopefully, that made sense. But until next time my friends, stay fashionable. I give you::Givenchy AW 2013/14

So like I said, I've been a terrible person and haven't posted in a while. I hope this makes up for it! I did manage to check a few tweets here and there to see what people were saying about Givenchy, and let me just say that it wasn't the best. While some did love the collection, others? Not so much. But alas, I'm a Givenchy fan...even though I own not a single piece. Maybe one day

First off, can we just talk about the major Disney reference. Bambi? Bambi?! Like the happy, little deer Bambi. Loved it. Also, we had a focus on the femininity of the woman with this collection. And if that was hinted at by the lace pieces, floral prints, and snakeskin boats then...There was an element of grunge still there, however. With the oversized sweatshirts and leather.

For me, I thought the collection was great. It showed a side of Givenchy that was new to me. But then again, I only started paying attention to Givenchy about a year ago so...yeah. Awkward. Anyway, I loved it. I loved the new direction and everything about it. So yeah, that's about it. Again, sorry about the neglect. Just so many things have been going on *tear* but I'm back now. Let's Talk Dolce & Gabbana

Hi my fashionistas and fashionistos. I hope you all are well. So...yes. I'm been very slack with postings lately, but I've been very busy with school and midterms. It's been garnering all of my attention and with the late, coffee filled nights, I've neglected my blogs. Fortunately, spring break starts this Friday! There will be lots and lots of Sex & The City along with random postings from The Devil Wears Prada (my fav movie ever!) and of course more fashion.

Now that that's taken care of, let's talk Dolce & Gabbana. To begin with, I just want to say that I've been a fan of D&G for many years now. I have their sunglasses and reading glasses (I'm obviously a D&G fanatic...not). I feel like Dolce & Gabbana has garnered a lot of attention through TV and music as well. I'm positive I've heard name drops several times. Okay, so for my review.

The first word that came to mind was ethereal. I think it sums it up perfectly. It made me think of times during the Vatican, a time of kings and queens whose robes would be so perfectly created and tailored to showcase the artisanship of time. It was sheer elegance. I loved that it had a mosaic feel to it. There was also the religious influence there through the Catholic church. And this was not the only time we've seen religious influences...remember the men's f/w 2013 Givenchy collection? Exactly. But I must say, even amid the elegance of this collection, there was still a modern feel to it. The clothes weren't too over the top to the point where they were not wearable. And there were so many textures and patterns as well. You had lace! You had tweed! You had plaid! You had intricate design! It was just brilliant. Also, can I just mention the red moment? Can I just say that it was major? Yes? Okay. It was MAJOR. Literally, i was like, "O.M.G. goooorgeous!" Red is such a beautiful and passionate color and I think the way that it was worked into the collection was done so, perfectly.

I also loved the bold lip and the accessary items. The crowns and earrings really set the collection, really adding to the whole king, queen, Vatican feel to it. I liked how they also had different fits. Some being short and loose, and others being long and fitted. Or, you had shorts. Shorts are always nice.

Overall, I was very impressed with this collection and I thought that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana did an amazing job. Well, that's all for now. Until next time, stay fashionable! Xx

Style File Friday: The Bowtie

Bonjour my lovely followers. I have some amazing news for you. Today, I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely lady. Her name? Ms. Corey Urbina. And can I just say, that after she left, I was almost on the verge of shedding a tear. Yes, I'm an very emotional guy. But the point is, she has an amazing personally and spirit. It's people like her, that really inspire me to do great things and I can only hope that I leave a lasting impact on people I meet in the future like the one she has left on me.

Now, for the story. So there I was, standing right behind her in the Starbucks line and didn't even know it. Then, she turns around, greets me, and mentions my bowtie. I didn't really pay the comment much attention until she asked me what inspired my personal style. And thinking back on it, I realized that as a child, I hated ties of all kinds. They were the most hideous inventions and I swore I'd never wear one. Ever.

Ever lasted for about 9 years, and then one day, I was in Express, on a Wednesday afternoon with my mom. She told me that I should try a bowtie on, just to experiment. Then, the next thing I know, I'm swiping my credit card, walking out the store with a bag that somehow included a black bowtie. Random right? I know. It was at that very moment that I realize how essential a bowtie was to my wardrobe. It's amazing actually. It can take a look from casual to semi-casual, to business, to formal really. Right now, I'm rocking the classic black. But I recommend that every closest has at least three types. Black is a must. I mean, it's black. Next, a bold color. Red is classic and timeless. Blue is also a staple color and even a nice green. Lastly, the more outgoing pattern. Urban outfitters has a cheetah bowtie that will soon be incorporated into my wardrobe. If that too much for you, try a nice plaid pattern, or polka-dots in navy and white. Anyone would work. And though I'm not one to necessarily follow runway trends, the Dsquared2 show utilized the bowtie superbly. Please believe, ladies, that this post is for you too! Since women are now beginning to take the masculine look and make it their own, the bowtie is a great accessary item to have. Whether it's a casual day walking around your university campus, or an evening event in New York, a bowtie can add that extra appeal to your look. Besides, Justin Timberlake just verified the suit and tie so...yeah.

Dean, Dan, and Dsquared²

Hola mis amigos! I hope you all are well. Yes? Awesome! Okay, so I'm just going to jump right into the review.

Dean. Dan. Well done. Well done. For those of us who watched the show (if you didn't, it'll be linked below so no worries), you know who amazingly brilliant this show was. Inspired by the 1940s and the glamorous girl meeting the masculine man, the collection literally blew me away. First off, there were suits. And bow ties. And fur. And hats. And jewelry. As you can "see", I'm excited. Lol. This collection reminded me of those black and white movies that involved some lady singing in a piano, in a bar. It had that old Hollywood glam to it, which wasn't exaggerated, but done just right.

The suits were what impressed me the most, because while it had a masculine feel, it still had a feminine side to it. Maybe because one of the models was Cara Delevingne and maybe because I absolutely love her. Maybe, I'm just saying. No, but overall, the suits worked perfectly, some being tailored and others given a more slouchy feel. They also incorporated vests as well, which I thought added to the vibe.

Something else that I loved were the gowns. They were floor length, with long trains, that everyone tripped on...*take a moment* Okay, moving on. The gloves were also gorgeous! Again, they gave to the feel of the collection, with simple, very easily complementary colors that added just the right amount of pop.

I would now like to point out the jewelry. They pieces were intricate and didn't exaggerate the look at all. The hats also did the same thing for me. They, again, contributed to the feel of the collection in the right way. Sometimes, I feel like a certain look isn't appreciated because of accessary pieces but this was not the case. Oh, and let's not forget the socks.

So, Dean and Dan, you continue to build and grow. And I love it! Everything just seemed to be right. The music, the atmosphere, the models, the walk, the looks, everything. It just flowed. And yes, there were a few stumbles here and there. I honestly don't know why people freak out over those types of things. People trip...models are people...just saying. Anyway, that's a different conversation. Alas, my love for Dsquared²  continues on.

It's all about Prada!

Hi guys! So, let me just start by saying that I was, in fact, 20 minutes earlier to the Prada show. The virtual show, that is. Lol. Anyway, since I was earlier, I was able to really pay attention to the scenery and backdrop that was used during the show. It had dreamy feel to it, with the shadows of models appearing behind it. It reminded me of a movie that took place. The day was hot, and steamy shadows of a not useful ceiling fan was projected off the walls...and scene. I would go on, but that's not why your here! Okay, the show. Now, I've always enjoyed Prada. Much like Burberry, I've always felt Prada to be classic, very beautifully tailored, with a not so glam impact. And I like that. In my opinion, this show was no different. There was a level of sexiness to it, but it was incorporated in a way that allowed for the collection to remain classic. 

The first thing really made me love this collection was the amount of skin being shown. Prada made it known that the woman can be classic but sexy. And this is something that is necessary. Very necessary. A lot of women teeter between being sexy and...well, not so sexy. So praises are in order.

Something else that I loved was the fur. Now, I know some people may be opposed to using real fur, and that's A-okay. But this is strictly from a "I don't know what they used, but it looked good" standpoint. Lol. The fur looked good and added just enough umph to the looks to make them standout. And speaking of fur, it was not just about the coats, but also the cuffs. Yes, cuffs were brought to the forefront with this collection. They were noticeable and the funny thing is, I didn't mind them. They added balance to the wider bottoms.

And then, the patterns. They weren't too out there. I liked the classic, checkerboard prints. It was simple, and elegant. And talk about your sequins, mixing textures, and croc skin. Tres chic! What was also tres chic where those bags. From croc print to tweed, they were lovely. And big. I like big.

So, Prada, you've impressed me. I must say. The only thing I didn't like where those sandal heels (if that's a thing). They were too chunky and looked awkward, in my opinion.

So, let me see. Where to begin? Well, personally, I've always thought that Burberry was very timeless an classic. There's something about the way the Bailey did this collection that really caught my eye. Maybe it was the latex? Maybe it was the trench coat look itself? OR...maybe it was the see through pieces in the collection...? I'm just saying. But I liked it. I felt it continued to hold true to it's classic appeal, while moving in a different, more "secret spy, I'm stealthy and you can't see me" vibe. Okay, so that might not make any sense, but that's what happened in my head. Alas, the collection featured the trench coat (major bias going on for me). Also, I loved the incorporation of animal print. And the pencil skirts added an extra umph to the collection. Not to mention the hearts that were sprinkled everywhere. Aww, love. I wonder if that had something to do with Valentine's Day or was he just trying to soften the kinky feeling...? I'm thinking kinky...just saying. Overall, the I thought Bailey did a great job in retaining the classic look and feel of Burberry while at the same time adding a new level of creation to it as well. Apparently, the collection was inspired by this woman, Christine Keeler, who had done "things" with a politician or two, or three, or ten. Who knows? Okay, I'm done rambling. Hello my lovely fashion people of the world. It's Sunday. A lazy Sunday, at least for me. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys about this up-coming week and somethings that I'm looking forward to. Okay, so as a college student who's trying to balance between studying and meetings, blogging, a social life, my sanity, and remembering to eat and sleep, you can imagine that things can get pretty cray-cray. This pass Friday, I had a french test. You know, typical test. Nothing too major. Except, oh right, that I don't know french. That can make things a little difficult. Anyway, I'm rambling. Back to this week. So first off, let me just say to the small amount of people that check out my blog, THANK YOU! So so much. I've instilled it within myself to become as big as Bryan Boy or The Blonde Salad or The Sartorialist or Song of Style or...well, you get the point (check them out, btw). Their all major bloggers, doing what they love and that what I aspire to be one day. Sitting at fashion shows and snapping pictures of amazing styles from around the world, sharing my experiences with you every step of the way would make life that much better. And of course, I do want to be a well known fashion stylist and fashion editor too. So thanks go out to you guys for taking just a moment out of your day to see what I have to say. Now, this week. Bypassing my sociology midterm on Tuesday *yikes*, I'm meeting with a personal stylist/image consultant to discuss a place for me in her business. Excited much? Umm yaa! I sent her an email at like 3am asking if she had any possible intern position, but I had no idea that she was going to actually come to my school, to sit and chat about me and what I want to do *tear* Also, I'm going to see if I can start doing more style post just to showcase my style and what not. Omg. OMG! Yes, it's very important that I start by using these three, little letters. So going back to last night, I was blown away. The collection consisted of satin and silk, colors and patterns, and there was a London-Paris-Anastasia-esque feel to it. Aesthetically, the collection was beautiful. I loved the colors. They flowed well together and the looks were just everything. Now, let's talk about hair and makeup. O.M.G. The hair was big and over the top and I loved it. I was dramatic but in a way that worked well for the clothes and the makeup added to the London/Paris/Anastasia-esque feel. And I must say that the collection was very sexy and had a glam factor to it also. So, once again, Marc delivers. Stay fabulous! So, until next time, stay fashionable. Xx

Victoria Beckham.:.NYFW

Hmmm...what can I say, what can I say? Let's try this: sexy, classic, geometric, color blocking, fashion...just absolutely woman-esque. I hope that made sense but literally, those are the words that came to mind when I saw VB's collection. She does it so well! Okay, let me start with the colors. I loved the tones and pops of color. It just seemed to flow together so well, with purple and blue and yellow, incorporated into blacks and grays. Loved it! Then you had geometry. Now, I've never been really obsessed over geometrically obvious pieces. I always felt they were just like, too much. But it wasn't until Nicola Formichetti, and now Victoria Beckham, that I've really enjoyed seeing them become apart of the full look. With Victoria, I loved how there were standouts and subtleties. Like, for one piece, you have an obvious triangle, but for others, you have a more subtle "I don't notice it but I notice it but it's still not noticeable because it's so well incorporated" piece. And I love it. Victoria has always been major to me. I mean come on, Spice Girls. Ya, we all loved them. Her style is just amazing. It's like effortless chic. Always fitted perfectly, always the right hairstyle, always the right makeup, always the right everything. I just love her. And now that hubby David and son Romeo are dabbling in the fashion world, I think we'll see more in future collection embracing their input, but who knows?
